A one-year-old girl is the latest fatality in the dengue outbreak in Tagum City.

According to the City Health Office (CHO), the girl was a resident of Visayan Village, the barangay with the most number of dengue cases along with Barangay Mankilam.

Because of this, the number of deaths due to dengue in the city in 2024 has reached 10.

CHO also recorded new 25 cases last week, bringing the total number of cases this year to nearly 2,200.

Health authorities urged residents to participate actively in combating dengue to prevent the spread of the disease, especially this rainy season.

The public is also reminded anew to follow preventive control measures and practice the 5S habit against dengue: Search and destroy mosquito breeding sites; self-protection like using insect repellents; seek early consultation; support fogging, spraying, and misting in hot spot areas; and sustain hydration.
