A woman in Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental was arrested on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, for allegedly exploiting her own children online.

Authorities also rescued the woman’s four minor children during the entrapment operation.

Police said the suspect allegedly exploited her children by making them perform explicit activities and sold the content to foreign clients online.

The suspect is now detained and is facing charges for alleged violation of the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2022 (RA 11862) and Anti-Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) and Anti-Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Materials (CSAEM) Act (RA 11930).

The minors rescued were turned over to the City Social Welfare and Development Office-Gingoog City for assessment, evaluation, and other intervention.

“We recognize that community cooperation is crucial to combat OSAEC and CSAEM cases. These offenses often occur within homes, sometimes committed by those closest to the victims—their own parents or relatives. We urge everyone to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities or signs of abuse. Let us all play our part in safeguarding our children’s future,” Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) Director, Brigadier General Jaysen de Guzman, said.
