A trailer truck got snagged in power lines and toppled a utility pole in Barangay Lower Calajoan, Minglanilla town, south Cebu.
Based on information from the Minglanilla Traffic Command (MITCOM), the trailer truck was hauling a container van. The container van got tangled in hanging electric lines and while in motion dragged the lines and toppled the power pole.
The electric post hit eventually a tricycle.
According to Glenn Antigua, MITCOM chief, they received the alarm past 3 p.m. on November 6, 2024.
Power supply was immediately shut down by the electric utility to avoid further accidents.
“Pag-abot nato sa area atong gi-investigate ang driver, ang iyang rason is wa kuno sya kabantay, pero ako syang giingnan nga imposible wa ka kabantay nga agianan man na nimo. Pasalamat lang ta nga naa ra sa dead end nga portion, dili gyud sya nga highway so wala kaayo sya kahasol,” Antigua said.
No one was reported injured in the incident.
The driver of the truck was placed under the custody of Minglanilla Police pending the decision from the electric company whether to pursue charges or not.
Meanwhile, a portion of a concrete fence of a house in Barangay Biasong, Talisay City was destroyed by a wing van that backed onto the fence morning of November 6, 2024.
The driver of the wingvan identified as Gezon Tango-an admitted that he placed the vehicle on a test-drive and failed to control it.
The owner of the house with a destroyed fence said he is amenable to a settlement on the repair of the fence.
