After their areas survived storms #KristinePH and #LeonPH, farmers in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte rushed to harvest their rice crops or palay due to the looming threat of Typhoon #MarcePH.

They were supposed to harvest in the second week of November but chose to harvest early before the typhoon would destroy their crops.

They said they have had fewer harvests due to recent weather disturbances. They took advantage of the fair weather on Wednesday, October 6, 2024, to dry their crops. The crops needed to be dried before they could be stored.

Typhoon #MarcePH was spotted last 295 kilometers East of Aparri, Cagayan, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 2 p.m. bulletin on November 6.

It is expected to continue intensifying and may reach its peak intensity on November 6 before passing over the Babuyan Channel.

PAGASA forecasts #MarcePH to make landfall and traverse Babuyan Islands or the northern portions of mainland Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, and Apayao, or pass very close to them from the afternoon of November 7 to early morning of November 8.

#MarcePH is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on the evening of November 8.
