Three individuals were arrested for using alleged counterfeit bills at the Calasiao Public Market.
The suspects, believed to be part of the same group, reportedly came from Calumpit, Bulacan, and Caloocan City.
According to police, two of the suspects bought a kilo of sugar using a fake P1,000 bill, which the vendor accepted.
Moments later, a third man approached and bought a kilo of sticky rice, paying with another fake P1,000 bill.
The vendor eventually noticed that both bills had identical serial numbers and alerted authorities immediately.
PLtCol. Ferdinand Lopez, Chief of Calasiao Police, reminded vendors to check payments carefully.
“Paalala sa mga nagtitinda, maging mapanuri sila sa mga binabayad na pera. Makikita naman kung paano tumingin ng original at fake,” he said.
