The Department of Agriculture-Davao (DA-11) is set to put up new border control facilities in the region against the possible threat of African Swine Fever (ASF).

DA-11 said at least nine border control facilities will be established – three in Davao del Sur; two in Davao de Oro; and one each in Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, and Davao Occidental, and Davao de Oro.

DA-11 Executive Director, Macario Gonzaga, said the facilities aim to protect the hog industry and ensure food security in the region.

A total of P20 million is allocated for the project. Each facility will have a disinfection zone, inter-agency office building, and mortality pit.

Construction of the facilities is expected to start in February 2025.
