Authorities have beefed up security in certain areas in Cagayan de Oro after a ‘habal-habal’ driver was robbed at a remote area in Barangay Camaman-an.

In his social media post, the victim said the suspects reportedly waited for him at a dark portion of the road while he was on his way back after transporting a passenger.

The suspects carted away his money worth nearly P1,000.

The victim sought help from the police, but the suspects were no longer in the area.

Police admitted that personnel were not often deployed in the area because of the distance.

Authorities continue to verify the incident.

“Hinoon katung gitudlo sa (biktima) mingaw gyud na siya nga area didto, pero dili pa sab nato ma-confirm karon kung unsa gyud katinuod pero atong paningkamutan nga mulutaw gyud ang tinuod nga panghitabo,” Cogon Police Station Chief, Major Sabino Labitad, said.

The barangay administrator also said tanods have been patrolling the area regularly.

“Once nga mag-roving ang tanod regularly nga ang among mga tanod twice gyud na sila mag-roving up to sa kadlawon,” Barangay Camaman-an Administrator, Raul Sacala, said.

Because of the incident, the barangay will also intensify its security measures in the area.

“Actually, ang CVO active man gihapon diha nga area aduna gihapon mga contact namo ana. Anytime muadto man gyud ang tanod muresponde man gyud na sila,” Sacala added.
