A pickup truck driver and his companion died while three others were injured after the vehicle they were riding crashed into a trailer truck in El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental on Monday, November 4, 2024.
According to the driver of the trailer truck, he was supposed to transport junk foods a few kilometers from the crash site when the incident happened.
"Ni-overtake sa service niaksyon ni siya sulod ako nagpadulong ko diri nagdagan ko ni balik mani ug gawas murag ni buylo ba duol na kaayo ko di na gyud nako malihayan di na Makaya,” trailer truck driver, Erwin Apor, said.
Because of the impact, the driver of the pickup truck and his companion died on the spot. The three other passengers of the pickup truck were rushed to the hospital.
"Ang point of impact wala sa line sa going sa Cagayan de Oro kung dili naa sa linya sa Iligan City nga lane… kung atong i-analyze, possible nga mi-encroach ang pick up vehicle,” El Salvador City Police Station Traffic Investigator, Corporal Arnaldo Galagnara, said.
The trailer truck ended up in a rice field because of the impact.
The driver of the trailer truck may face charges for reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide and multiple physical injuries.
