A 30-year-old rider drowned after he was swept away by raging floodwaters in Barangay Catigan, Toril District, Davao City evening on Sunday, November 3, 2024.
Police said the rider was traversing the road when he was swept away by floodwaters amid heavy rains until he fell into a creek.
Residents recovered the motorcycle of the rider stuck at the creek.
The Barangay Disaster Response Team immediately conducted a search and rescue operation and recovered the rider’s slippers, shorts pants, and shirt.
The search and rescue operation conducted by the USAR Central 911 was suspended around 12:05 a.m. on Monday, November 4, due to the bad weather and possible heavy flooding at the creek.
Barangay Binugao responders found the rider’s dead body later at the creek beside the Mc Arthur Highway in Barangay Binugao around 1 a.m.
