Flags across the Philippines are flying at half-staff as the nation observes a National Day of Mourning to honor the victims of Severe Tropical Storm #KristinePH on Monday, November 4, 2024.

President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. earlier declared the day of mourning in Proclamation No. 728.

Signed on October 30, the proclamation called for the half-staff display of the national flag in all government buildings in the Philippines and abroad.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, 150 were reported dead, 134 were injured, and 20 are still missing as of November 4.

The storm affected over 8.6 million people, with the Bicol Region bearing the brunt, followed by Regions III and CALABARZON.

More than 223,000 people are staying at evacuation centers, while over 521,000 have taken refuge elsewhere. Damage reports include 211,792 homes impacted, with 33,525 homes destroyed completely.

The storm caused infrastructure damage of over P7.4 billion, and losses in agriculture reached P5.9 billion.
