A 14-year-old boy drowned while trying to cross the Bayudan River in Sabangan, Mt. Province.
The incident happened around 8 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2024.
The teen attempted to wade through the river reportedly but was swept away by the strong current.
Local authorities launched a search and rescue operation immediately to recover the victim.
Residents—especially those living near rivers—are advised to be careful due to the increased risk of flooding and strong water flows due to recent heavy rains.
