The president of the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, and two of his companions, were killed in an ambush outside a hotel in the same town.

The victims were identified as Barangay 6 San Juan Bautista Chairman Mark Adrian Barba, Raffy Agraan Ulep, and Lord Wayne Gian Menor.

Initial police report suggests that the victims were on their way home from a cockfighting event morning on October 26, 2024 when unknown assailants attacked their sports utility vehicle (SUV), leaving over 30 bullet holes on the driver’s side.

The suspects fled immediately.

Part of the investigation is to determine the type of firearms used. Police have refrained from providing further details as investigation continues.

This incident follows a similar attack in September 2024 where another barangay chairman in San Nicolas was shot outside his home.

Another ABC president was also killed in an ambush in Malolos City, Bulacan earlier on October 4, 2024.
