Residents in Isabela are facing lack of power supply and potable water, with some having to set up tents along the road as water continues to flood their homes due to #KristinePH.
In Ilagan City, Isabela, floodwaters continue to linger, with two barangays remaining isolated due to high water levels as of Friday, October 25, 2024.
“Mahirap kung hindi kami nakahanda, masisira lahat ng gamit namin,” Aling Helen, a resident from Barangay San Vicente, said.
According to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), more than 30,000 individuals have been affected by the flooding in the city.
In areas where floodwaters are subsiding slowly, residents are returning home to clean up after the disaster.
Seven barangays are still without electricity and 14 others lack water supply.
“Nakakatakot din kapag walang kuryente, baka may mga insekto... mahirap talaga,” Joel Baquiran, a resident, said.
To help affected families, the local government unit (LGU) distributed food packs and potable water.
“Bukod sa cooked food, kasama na sa binibigay namin ay potable waters,” Geraldyn Gangan, Ilagan City DRRM Officer, said.
In the nearby town of San Pablo, some households in Barangay Caralucod are also under water.
“Malayo ang evacuation center, kaya dito nalang kami,” Ronald Delgado, a resident, said.
Residents have been sleeping in tents along the road after floodwaters entered their homes.
CDRRMO said it may take one to two more days before the flooding recedes completely in some areas of Isabela.
