Despite easing winds, storm surge warnings remain in effect across coastal areas in Pangasinan as Severe Tropical Storm #KristinePH exits the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

Authorities advised residents to stay alert, as waves could still reach up to two meters high.

In a report from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), more than 36,000 families from 173 barangays in 14 towns and two cities were affected.

As of October 25, 2024, a total of 1,059 families or 3,683 individuals have taken shelter at evacuation centers.

“Mas maiging manatili muna sa evacuation center, antayin na ibaba yung storm surge signal bago pumunta sa kanilang tahanan para sa kanilang kaligtasan,” Assistant DRRM Officer Avenix Arenas said.

Flooding worsened at the Lingayen Baywalk, particularly in Barangay Libsong East, where residents report knee-deep waters.

“Malalim ang baha. Hanggang tuhod. Sa mga kabahayan, napasukan na, Sir," Luis Casaclang, a resident, said.

In response, locals joined forces to clear drainage routes to prevent further flooding.

“Hinihukay namin ‘yung drainage kasi po, hindi na po umaagos yung tubig doon sa likod ng Aliguas... Halos wala na po kaming matulugan,” Elizal Olavario, a resident, said.

Although heavy rains have lessened on October 25, authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.
