The Low Pressure Area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has developed into a Tropical Depression at 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2024, according to state weather bureau PAGASA.

"The Low Pressure Area (10d) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility has developed into a Tropical Depression at 8PM today. Tropical Cyclone Advisory will be issued once this tropical cyclone enters the longitude of 145°E," PAGASA said in a post on social media.

PAGASA made the announcement late evening on October 24 while Luzon is experiencing heavy rains and winds, and several parts of the country like the Bicol Region, are still reeling from the devastation caused by #KristinePH.

The weather bureau spotted the LPA even before #KristinePH made landfall in northern Luzon past midnight on October 24.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said it is monitoring another LPA within the PAGASA monitoring domain. It said, though, that the potential of the LPA to develop into a Tropical Depression within the next 24 hours is low.

"Meanwhile another Low Pressure Area (LPA 10e) is being monitored within the PAGASA monitoring domain. The potential of LPA 10e to develop into a Tropical Depression within the next 24 hours is LOW," PAGASA said.
