A 24-year-old man who was fishing at the Davao River in Barangay 8-A, Davao City on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, went missing and was believed to have drowned.

According to a report by GMA Super Radyo Davao, the man’s companion said they fished at the river using a fish round net.

The companion reportedly stayed at the riverbank to look after their belongings. He left for a while to buy something and when he came back, he received information that the man drowned and went missing.

The man may have been swept away by strong water current.

A team from the Central 911 and Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (BDRRMO) immediately launched a search and retrieval operation, but did not find the man.

The operation has resumed on Thursday, October 24, 2024.
