At least 16 passengers were injured after the bus they were riding crashed into a trailer truck in Bunawan, Davao City.

Police said the two vehicles were traveling in opposite directions. The truck was heading to Davao City while the bus was bound for Tagum City.

The bus reportedly cut slightly into the lane of the truck, which caused the collision.

“Going to north and then, diha sa may atbang sa eskwelahan, diha sila nagkabanggaanay. Mikawat ni gamay ang bus sa dalan sa truck mao to nga nagkabanggaanay ang ulo nga part sa truck and bus,” Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Spokesperson, Captain Hazel Tuazon, said.

Of the 16 passengers injured, seven were brought to the hospital. The truck driver also sustained injuries.

The bus company assured it will shoulder the hospital expenses of the passengers injured.

The parties involved have yet to reach an agreement, as of this writing. The bus and truck drivers did not issue a statement.

“I-respeto nato ang balaod trapiko para iwas-disgrasya sa dalan. Kay ang atong tumong ani, ang pag-conduct nato og operation sa karsada and labi na sa speed limit, para na sa proteksyon sa tanan,” Tuazon said.
