Coast Guard District Central Visayas has allowed sea vessels of 250 gross tonnage and up to sail.

Stranded travelers heaved a sigh of relief at the piece of news after staying about four days at evacuation centers in Barangay Tinago and Barangay San Roque in Cebu City.

The Coast Guard lifted partially the suspension on voyages of sea vessels. The lifting is based on improved weather condition according to an advisory from state weather bureau PAGASA.

Partial lifting of suspension is implemented by Coast Guard Station Western Bohol, Coast Guard Station Eastern Bohol, Coast Guard Station Camotes, Coast Guard Station Southern Cebu, and Coast Guard Station Central Cebu.

The stranded travelers were earlier accommodated at evacuation centers in the said barangays and were provided meals and drinking water by the Local Government Unit of Cebu City.

Sea vessels below the permitted gross tonnage are still restricted from pursuing voyages to avert maritime disaster.

Fishermen are also advised not to venture out at sea under an inclement weather.

“Unta makasabot lang sila namo nga nagpatupad sa mandato sa angay namong buhaton,” PO1st Clifford Padolina, substation commander of Philippine Coast Guard Aduana, said.
