Authorities seized several guns and suspected illegal drugs, and arrested five suspects, during a raid in General Santos City on Wednesday, October 23, 2024.

Police raided three houses in Barangay Labangal by virtue of a search warrant.

Four men were arrested in the first house and another man was arrested in the second house. The raid in the second house resulted in an armed encounter after the suspect allegedly tried to fight back.

He was hit in the body and was brought to the hospital for treatment.

No one was arrested in the third house.

“Apat to sila nandito arrested at isa ang wounded, nasa hospital ngayon for surgery… tinamaan ito, nakipagpalitan ng putok sa operatiba natin,” Police Station 2 Commander, Major Carl Jayson Baynosa, said.

Several firearms, ammunition, suspected illegal drugs, and drug paraphernalia were confiscated during the operation.

“Itong mga nakuhang baril is backyard made… pinapagawa lang nila sa other provinces or other places, and itong mga drugs, ito’y tinitingan natin kung saan talaga ang source nito,” Baynosa added.

One of the suspects denied they own the confiscated drugs.

“Hindi yan sa amin mga droga sir,” one of the suspects said.

Police said some of the suspects may be involved in the series of robbery incidents in the city.

“Base sa initial interrogation natin, mga wala itong trabaho. I think, itong mga nakuha nating mga suspek, aside sa target ito, involved sa mga series ng mga nakawan dito sa Gensan sa mga nakita nating mga susi at iba’t ibang klase ng mga paraphernalia na pwedeng gamitin na pagnakaw,” Baynosa said.

One of the suspects denied the allegation.

“No comment na lang , dili ko mo istorya.. Dili na naku mabuhat sir ang mangawat,” one of the suspects said.

The suspects may face charges for alleged violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (RA 9165) and Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act (RA 10591).
