A total of 6,791 families or 34,466 individuals are affected by the impact of #KristinePH in the Province of Eastern Samar as of 9 a.m. on October 23, 2024, according to Engr. Thomas Campomanes, officer in charge of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).

At least 9,913 individuals are from Jipapad, 139 individuals or 36 families from Arteche, 246 individuals or 71 families from San Policarpo; 24,024 individuals or 6,649 families from Can-avid, and 144 individuals or 35 families from Maydolong. The number of families affected in Jipapad was not specified yet.

In addition, a total of 393 families or 1,458 individuals were evacuated. These are in Jipapad with 219 individuals or 77 families, San Policarpo with 352 individuals or 93 families; San Julian with 563 individuals or 144 families, Can-avid with 90 individuals or 25 families, Taft with 25 individuals or seven families, and Maydolong with 209 individuals or 47 families.

Further, flooding has affected 28 barangays in the towns of Jipapad and San Policarpo.

“Four houses in Can-avid and San Julian were damaged while some ricelands in Jipapad are also flooded,” the report added.

Furthermore, three fishers in the town of Sulat, Eastern Samar were reported missing.

“No reported damage yet to livestock or poultry. Work has resumed in Eastern Samar, but classes remain suspended,” the report added.
