At least 29 Local Government Units (LGUs) in the Province of Cebu suspended face-to-face classes on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 because of the inclement weather. 

Though Tropical Storm (TS) “Kristine” did not have a direct effect in the island of Cebu, the 29 LGUS ordered the cancellation of in-person classes for both public and private schools mostly in all levels as a precautionary measure from the heavy rainfall and strong gusts of wind experienced morning of October 22, 2024. 

The 29 LGUS Are Asturias, Aloguinsan, Boljoon, Bogo City, Bantayan, Badian, Balamban, Daanbantayan, Danao City, Medellin, Minglanilla, Madridejos, Moalboal, Oslob, Pinamungajan, Pilar, Poro, San Remegio, Sibonga, Santa Fe, San Francisco, Santander, Sogod, Toledo City, Talisay City, Tabogon, Tabuelan, Tudela, and Liloan. 

Classes are expected to resume as soon as weather condition improves.

Wilson Ramos, spokesperson of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), said that no incidents of flooding and landslide were monitored in the province, but the public is advised to continue monitoring for weather updates and to always be vigilant. 

Further, the PDRRMO is also monitoring the condition of the seas as voyages have been prohibited by Coast Guard personnel to avert any maritime incident.
