Massive flooding has hit Barangay Bonbon, Libon, Albay on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, as #KristinePH unleashes strong winds and heavy rains in the province and other parts of the Philippines.

In a video posted by Don Declaro Sacueza, Jr., a resident, floodwaters almost reached the roof of houses afternoon Tuesday.

“Sobrang lalim po ng tubig at sobrang lakas ng agos,” Sacueza said.

The Albay Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC-APSEMO) earlier ordered the immediate evacuation of residents in flood, lahar, and landslide-prone areas.

Evacuation began early Tuesday and authorities aimed to finish by 5 p.m.

Schools in Albay, Tabaco, Legazpi, and Ligao have been prepared as temporary shelters, while local police secured evacuation routes.

Rescue operations are underway, as of this writing.

Meanwhile, in Barangay Salog, Sorsogon City, flood waters reached chest level.

Residents report strong river currents and floodwaters entering homes.

"Sa ngayon aabot dibdib pa rin 'yung baha sa mga kabahayan dito at malakas rin 'yung agos ng tubig sa ilog," Ted Joshua Divina Marzon, a resident, said.

According to PAGASA, #KristinePH may make landfall in northern Luzon on Wednesday, October 23, or Thursday, October 24.
