The Camarines Sur Provincial Government has ordered the mandatory evacuation of residents in areas at risk of flooding, landslides, flash floods, and storm surges due to the expected impact of Tropical Storm #KristinePH.
The order was made on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, following the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration's (PAGASA) weather advisory, which predicts intense to torrential rainfall exceeding 200 mm in the province.
It reads:
"This poses a significant threat to vulnerable communities, especially those in areas prone to flooding, flash floods, landslides, and storm surges."
Local disaster councils (LDRRMCs) have been instructed to coordinate with barangay disaster councils (BDRRMCs) to identify vulnerable communities and assist in the evacuation efforts.
The PDRRMC response agencies have been instructed to support the evacuation operations and submit reports on the number of affected populations to the PDRRMC Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
"All are directed to ensure a prompt and effective response to minimize the impact of this weather disturbance and prevent any loss of life," it added.
