A joint counter-action operation against illegal mining in Casiguran, Aurora led to the confiscation of mining equipment.
The Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Casiguran teamed up with the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) and the local police to carry out the operation on October 16, 2024.
The operation was hatched after authorities received reports of illegal activity at Sitio Agies River in Barangay Cozo.
The team was mobilized immediately after the initial call, resulting in the seizure of abandoned mining equipment, which was handed over to MENRO Casiguran for proper handling.
No individuals were arrested on-site.
