A 32-year-old woman who was doing laundry at a river in Cagayan de Oro City was found dead later.

Residents of Barangay Dansolihon found the woman naked with a wound in her head.

According to the victim’s sister-in-law, the woman was doing laundry morning on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. Later, someone alerted them that the woman was found dead.

The victim was believed to have been raped first before killed.

During a follow-up operation, police arrested a 23-year-old suspect.

Authorities said the suspect’s motorcycle was seen near the crime scene and his shirt, which had bloodstains on it, was reportedly recovered.

“Sa usa ka area sa lasang, nakita nato ang atoang suspek through sa pagtawag sa iyahang igsuon. Pagtawag sa igsuon niya, naa sa gilid lang ang operatives uban ang mga barangay tanod nato,” Lumbia Police Station Chief, Major Mike Cavan, said.

The suspect has denied the allegation. He said he went to his farm after drinking at his house.

“Gikan ko nag-inom sa balay unya niadto ra dayun ko sa akong uma. Ako naman hinuon ang ilang gipangita nuon, dili gyud ako bossing,” the suspect said.

The victim’s body has been subjected to autopsy.
