Cebu City's “Sinulog Festival” and Lapu-Lapu City's “Garbo sa Lapu-Lapu Festival” won in the “Kasanggayahan Festival National Festival of Festivals” held in the Province of Sorsogon, Bicol Region on October 16, 2024.

“Lumad Basakanon,” a prominent performing arts group in Cebu known for remarkable performances in Sinulog Festival competitions, was adjudged overall champion, while Lapu-Lapu City settled at fourth runner-up.

“Lumad Basakanon” (Sinulog Festival) also won Best in Costume and Best in Moving Choreography.

The 2024 Kasanggayahan Festival National Festival of Festivals was held in conjunction with the 50th Golden Anniversary of the Kasanggayahan Festival in the Province of Sorsogon, the province's 130th Founding Anniversary, and the 455th commemoration of the First Mass that marked the introduction of Christianity in Luzon.

In a post by Barangay Hipodromo, one of Lumad Basakanon’s dance masters, Arkel Castañarez, disclosed that the group won P4 million as grand champion; P300,000 for Best in Moving Choreography; and P200,000 for Best in Costume.

Meanwhile, Lapu-Lapu City has taken pride in the celebration of the island's rich heritage and warrior spirit.

"It is showcasing the power of arnis in the Kadaugan sa Mactan, bringing our history to life and carrying the legacy of our city’s greatness. This is more than a victory—it’s a testament to the unwavering spirit of the Oponganons," Lapu-Lapu Arnis de Abanico said in a post.
