Strong winds and heavy rains wrecked havoc on installations outside a mall and pulled down trees in Koronadal City.

A steel stage, intended for closing activities of the city’s Charter Day celebration, was brought to the ground.

One of the 40 concessionaires who managed to take a video of the incident said they were about to put up their tents when strong winds came blowing and heavy rain poured.

“Sa amin, normal sana yung ganoon, kaso lang, bigla lang lumakas yung hangin. Naga-rebound yung hangin papunta sa amin ba… bumabangga yung hangin galing sa building papunta sa aming area. Yung tatlong lalaki, hinawakan yung tent,” Ton Abendan, said.

No one was reported hurt.

According to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), there was no flooding in the city during the downpour but there were reports of several trees falling on the streets.

Authorities have conducted clearing operations. The stage and stalls outside the mall were reassembled later.

“Wala naman except for nag-cause siya ng heavy traffic dahil may mga natumbang mga malalaking kahoy na bumara mismo sa mga major thoroughfare sa City of Koronadal but ultimately, nagtulungan naman, may Task Force Kalinisan, naayos naman**,” CDRRM Officer, Cyrus Jose Urbano, said.**
