A 16-year-old boy drowned in a creek where he and a companion jumped into while trying to escape after they were caught trying to steal a bicycle in Imelda Village, Baguio City, on Monday, October 14, 2024.
The 10-year-old companion survived.
Initial police investigation reveal that the two minors entered the compound and tried to steal the bicycle but a construction worker saw them. Fleeing in panic, the two jumped into the creek nearby.
The younger boy managed to swim to safety, but the older boy did not survive. He did not make it to the hospital alive.
As of this writing, authorities are yet to speak with the parents of the deceased.
