Authorities seized alleged smuggled cigarettes worth more than P2 million in Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Lanao del Norte.
Members of the 1005th Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB-10) and other police units launched the operation after receiving a tip from an informant.
Recovered during the operation were several reams of assorted cigarettes worth around P2.2 million.
Police said the cigarettes were transported from Sulu to Sultan Naga Dimaporo via boat.
The items were allegedly intended for distribution in Iligan City and Cagayan de Oro City.
The cigarettes will be turned over to the Bureau of Customs (BOC).
“The recovery of smuggled cigarettes demonstrates our dedication to safeguarding the public from illegal tobacco products. We will not tolerate such activities in our area of responsibility. I call on the public to remain vigilant and to continue supporting our fight against smuggling,” Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) Director, Brigadier General Jaysen De Guzman, said.
