Despite ongoing rains, the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) and the Philippine Air Force (PAF) continue cloud seeding operations to ensure sufficient water storage at Pantabangan Dam for irrigation purposes.
NIA aims to raise water levels to 216 meters, enough to irrigate 149,892 hectares of dry crop areas in Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Bulacan, and Pampanga.
Although the dam is not releasing water during the rainy season, it has irrigated 150 percent of its wet season target.
Cloud seeding operations began in September 2024, and will run until October 30. It has a budget of P4.93 million.
NIA ensures that rainfall is focused on the Pantabangan watershed, minimizing the impact on farmers in nearby areas.
