A 73-year-old woman died after she was hit by an ambulance in Barangay Poblacion Norte, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan.

The victim was identified as Elsie Dion, a businesswoman from Barangay Bued, Calasiao.

Closed circuit television (CCTV) footage shows Dion crossing the street when she was struck suddenly by the ambulance.

Dion was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

“Nakakalungkot. Nakakabigla sa buong pamilya,” Emmie Dion, the victim’s daughter, said.

The ambulance, owned by Barangay Zone V in Bayambang, was transporting a patient when the accident occured.

The 44-year-old driver, Julius Marzan, expressed regret over the incident and asked for forgiveness.

“Wala pong may gustong mangyari ‘yun. Sana mapatawad nila ako,” he said.

Emmie said they can forgive Marzan but will pursue legal action.

“Mapapatawad pero tuloy pa rin ang kaso,” she said.

Marzan is now in police custody, while investigation continues, as of this writing.
