A man and his son were found dead on the side of the Abra-Kalinga Road in Barangay Bonglo, Licuan-Baay, Abra on Saturday, October 12, 2024.

The victims were identified as Alex Borreta, and his 17-year-old son, Richard, both residents of Barangay Agtangao, Bangued.

The two victims were found with gunshot wounds and deep slashes in their necks.

Police said one of the victims had his mouth taped shut.

“Mayroong tama ng bala ng baril ang mga katawan nila, sir, tapos ginilitan sa leeg — malaki ang sugat,” P/Lt. Jerry Granel, Deputy Chief of Police, Licuan-Baay Municipal Police Station, said.

At the crime scene, authorities recovered bullet shells from a .45 caliber gun and an M16 rifle.

According to their family, the father and son never returned home since the last time they left the house.

“Malala ang ginawa nila... hindi ko pa nakita [ng personal ang mga biktima],” Grace Borreta, wife and mother of the victims, said.

The motive for the killing is still under investigation, as of this writing.

The family seeks justice for the killing.
