Suspected shabu worth approximately P170,000 was seized from a Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) councilman of Cebu City in Talisay City, Cebu.

The 23-year-old suspect is a resident of Barangay Santo Niño in Cebu City. The surveillance carried out by members of the Talisay City Police ran for two weeks.

The SK councilor is tagged as a high-value individual (HVI) for disposing of not less than 50 grams of suspected shabu weekly.

Operatives said that since the daily activities started leading to the city fiesta in Talisay, supply of illegal drugs has also proliferated.

The suspect was arrested in Purok Repolyo, Barangay Poblacion at past 3 a.m. on October 9, 2024.

According to Police Lt. Col. Epream Paguyod, chief of the Talisay City Police Office, the implementation of a curfew ordinance in Barangay Poblacion has relaxed because of the activities leading to the celebration on October 15, 2024. But they have reminded the community, especially parents of minors to be responsible for their children’s safety and welfare.

Lt. Col. Paguyod said that Talisay City is generally peaceful despite the influx of fiesta-goers who have taken part in the funfare and merriment in the daily activities.
