Up to 64 families were displaced after a fire razed their houses to the ground in Barangay Telaje, Tandag City, Surigao del Sur.
According to the Tandag City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), the fire broke out around 3:34 a.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2024.
The local government also said two areas in the barangay were affected, including Purok Earth and Purok Mars.
Data from the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Caraga (DSWD-13) showed that 56 houses were destroyed while five were partially damaged.
Families affected are taking shelter temporarily at the evacuation center and they were given food packs, family kits, kitchen kits, hygiene kits, and sleeping kits.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.
