A special investigation task group (SITG) has been formed to probe the killing of a police station chief in Cagayan de Oro.

Police Station 2 chief, Captain Abdulcahar Armama, was shot dead approximately 100 meters from his house at past 9 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2024.

Police said the suspects waited for him to come out of his car.

Armama was hit on the right side of his head. He did not reach the hospital alive.

The SITG “Armama” is led by Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) Director, Col. Salvador Radam.

Officials of COCPO and Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) have visited Armama’s family to extend financial assistance and attend the burial in Marawi City.

Investigators are identifying the two people captured on CCTV four days before the incident. They are also checking other CCTV cameras near the crime scene.

“Way puas atong pag follow-up mismo atong City Director Col. Salvador Radam, nangunay hands on siya sa pag-supervise sa atong mga operatiba,“ COCPO Spokesperson, Lt. Col. Evan Viñas, said.

Authorities are also securing more evidence and witnesses to help in the investigation.

Police said the killing may have something to do with Armama’s work.

Authorities also urged those who have knowledge about the incident to come forward.
