Pangasinan is gearing up for the 2025 midterm elections with the voter count now exceeding 2.1 million.
On Wednesday, October 9, 2024, the municipal election officer from Infanta arrived in Dagupan City to submit Certificates of Candidacy (COC) to the Provincial Commission on Elections (COMELEC) office.
Ulysses Montano, Infanta’s election officer, expressed hopes for a peaceful election process.
“Sa mga aspirant, tahimik naman. Sana magtuloy-tuloy na peaceful ang Infanta,” Montano said.
COMELEC will begin posting the tentative list of candidates on October 29, 2024 on its website and at the offices where COCs were filed so that aspirants will have the opportunity to check their names for the official ballot.
“So, ang lalabas lang is their name and the content of COC,” Atty. Eric Oganiza, Pangasinan provincial election officer, said.
In Pangasinan, the gubernatorial and vice-gubernatorial races will be contested one-on-one.
There are 26 aspirants for Provincial Board Member positions and 12 candidates running for the six congressional districts.
Across Region 1, at least 113 candidates have filed for provincial and congressional positions.
Oganiza also reminded the public about fair campaigning.
“Wala tayong tinatawag na pre-mature campaigning. Para sa balanse, ‘wag na sana ‘yung may gastusan,” he said.
The official campaign period will start on March 28, 2025, and will run until May 10, 2025.
Campaigning will be prohibited on April 17 and 18, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.
