Authorities are searching for an 18-year-old man who drowned and went missing at sea in Talicud Island, Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS).
According to a report by GMA Super Radyo Davao, the man and his father were on board their banca and went to a group of fishermen to help so they would be given a share of the catch.
However, the man jumped into the sea upon pulling the fishing net and never surfaced.
Personnel of the Coast Guard Station-IGACOS had a hard time searching for the man because of the distance from the shoreline, which would take around one hour to travel. That part of the sea also has a depth of approximately 500 feet.
Authorities raised the possibility that the man may have drowned after suffering from hypocalcemia.
Fisherfolk in the area were urged to report any sighting of the man to the Coast Guard.
