A 52-year-old woman was hacked dead in the Municipality of Daanbantayan, northern Cebu Province.

She sustained several hack wounds on the face.

According to Daanbantayan Police, the victim was tending her cows, giving them water to drink near her residence in Barangay Pajo when the incident happened at about noontime on October 7, 2024.

A 40-year-old man attacked him with a machete, hit her several times on the face.

The man was said to be a neighbor of the victim.

Witnesses said they inquired as to what the suspect had attacked because it appeared as though he was hacking to death a snake. However, the suspect did not reportedly answer.

Later, they found out to their horror that a person was lying on the ground, and that the face was covered with hack wounds. They started calling for help.

The suspect was arrested immediately, but the police are yet to determine the motive of the attack.

The suspect will be charged for murder.
