A former rebel leader from the Ilocos-Cordillera region has received P2.3 million through the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) on Monday, October 7, 2024.
According to the 5th Infantry “Star” Division (5ID) of the Philippine Army (PA), Viernes Dangiwan, also known as "Ka Lipat," was once a commanding officer of the “Komiteng Larangang Guerilla Baggas.”
Dangiwan surrendered 29 high-powered firearms on 2023.
The awarding ceremony, held at the Kalinga Provincial Capitol, was led by Governor James Edubba and attended by military and government officials.
After three decades of involvement in the insurgency, Dangiwan now looks forward to building a peaceful life and funding his child’s education.
“Ka Lipat plans to use the financial support to fund his child's education and build a home, marking the beginning of a new, peaceful chapter in his life,” the PA said in a statement.
