Two men who stole from houses in Barangay Quesban, Calasiao, Pangasinan ended up fleeing after one house owner chased them away with a machete.

The incident took place at around 4:30 a.m. on October 2, 2024.

The suspects arrived on board a motorcycle and resident Rosalinda Aficial saw a suspect entering other houses first and stole clothes and slippers.

"Pagtingin ko, unang pumasok dun sa kabilang bahay, at kinuha nila mga short at damit, tapos pagdating dito tsinelas nila dito sa kabila," she said.

Aficial then noticed someone opening her window and saw later a masked man break in. As the thief was taking a jacket away, Aficial pulled out a machete and chased him out with it. It turned out the thief had a companion.

"Hinabol ko, may dala akong itak. Akala ko isa lang na magnanakaw, yun pala dalawa," she said.

CCTV camera captured the incident, except for the chase.

Aficial said she is confident that the thieves would not return.

“Hindi na babalik yun dahil natakot na. Siguro po, natakot sa mukha ko,” she said in jest.

Local officials believe the suspects may not be from the area, prompting Barangay Captain Raymound Aguilar to tighten security measures.

"Kung ano man ang makikita nila, tsinelas, damit kukunin nila. Dayo, hindi namin ma-identify kung sino yung tao na iyon," Aguilar said.

The homeowner chose not to report the incident to the police.
