Around 30 percent of the public utility vehicles, including jeepneys, in Davao City did not renew their franchise, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-Davao (LTFRB-11) said.

This has had a significant impact on commuters, especially during peak hours and severe weather conditions that resulted in flooding.

LTFRB-11 Director, Nonito Llanos III, said the agency is looking for ways to address the lack of public transportation.

It has also coordinated with the city government for more public transportation aside from the Peak Hours Augmentation Bus System.

However, Llanos said he is confident that the units under the Davao Public Transport Modernization Program (DPTMP) will work even during flooding.

LTFRB-11 clarified that while the local government is ready for the DPTMP, the implementation will still depend on the national government.
