The suspended mayor of Palompon town in the Province of Leyte has been dismissed by the Office of the Ombudsman for grave misconduct and serious dishonesty.
The Office of the Ombudsman ordered the dismissal of suspended Palompon mayor Ramon Oñate, seven incumbent municipal councilors, and three employees for falsified documents.
The decision stemmed from an administrative case filed by one Ian Jay Arevalo against Oñate and the other officials and workers.
The order was approved by Ombudsman Samuel Martires.
The Ombudsman found the suspended mayor and the rest of the accused guilty of grave misconduct and serious dishonesty.
Oñate and the others were meted dismissal from the service, cancellation of eligibility, forfeiture of retirement benefits, and perpetual disqualification from holding any government position.
