A common-law couple has allegedly stabbed each other to death at the house they were renting in General Santos City.

Police said the 40-year-old woman may have stabbed her partner first before the latter stabbed her.

The woman was found dead at the gate while the man was found lying lifeless inside the room.

The woman had three stab wounds in the neck while her partner sustained a stab wound in the chest.

“Based sa statement sa mga tao didto, ang nakakita gud is nauna nagsaksak tung babae, tapos gikuha sa lalaki ang kutsilyo tapos siya napud nanaksak. Lain lain ang version, eh. Since ing-ani ang case, wala man pud tay pareho sila biktima diri,” Police Station 3 Commander, Major Ari Noel Cardos, said.

Authorities recovered a knife from the crime scene.

Police added that based on accounts of the neighbors, the couple reportedly figured in a heated argument prior to the incident.

Investigators are looking into financial problem as motive.

“Ang hearsay didto, ang sulti is, kay walay trabaho ang katung lalaki, naga trabaho man gud ni siya sa shop (sa una), sunud katung babae, didto pud ni niya nakilala, so from time to time man gud ang statement sa mga silingan didto is naa gyud time nga muaway sila, naa pud sila time pud hilum ra pud. Ang motive nga ginatan aw namu is based sa statement sa silingan which is katung sa financial trouble,” Cardos added.
