Former governor Pryde Henry Teves, the brother of dismissed Negros Oriental congressman Arnolfo Teves Jr., filed his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for governor in the morning of October 4, 2024.

Pryde Henry is the first gubernatorial aspirant to have filed his COC at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office in Dumaguete City for the 2025 midterm elections. 

Pryde Henry was accompanied by Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo and some party mates of the Liberal Party.

The former governor is facing cases at the Cebu City Regional Trial Court Branch 74 for alleged violation of the Terrorism Financing Prevention and Suppression Act. He was able to post bail.

Along with his brother, Arnolfo, he is accused by the Anti-Terrorism Council of alleged involvement in the series of killings, and harassment in the Province of Negros Oriental in the past years.
