The Department of Trade and Industry-Northern Mindanao (DTI-10) has warned business establishments in the region to follow the guidelines under the Fair Trade Act to avoid charges, especially that the holiday season is approaching.
DTI-10 continues to monitor the prices of basic commodities consumers usually buy for Christmas and New Year celebrations.
From January to September 2024, over 900 establishments in Northern Mindanao were inspected and seven of these were issued with a notice of inquiry.
Angelo Devero, said.
DTI-10 is also monitoring restaurants following several complaints over incorrect giving of discounts to senior citizens and persons with disability (PWD).
DTI-10 has already coordinated with the Cagayan de Oro City Price Coordinating Council (CDO CPCC) to check and warn restaurants to give proper discounts to senior citizens and PWDs.
Jose Edgardo Uy, said.
Violators of the Fair Trade Act will be made to pay a fine and may face cancellation of business permit.
