Authorities seized alleged smuggled cigarettes worth nearly P10 million from an abandoned vehicle in Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Lanao del Norte.

Police were patrolling the area when they found a wing van abandoned by the roadside.

The van was found to be containing around 247 boxes of assorted cigarettes.

Authorities have coordinated with the Bureau of Customs in Iligan City for the disposition of the items seized.

An investigation has been opened to determine the owner of the items and the wing van.

“This operation is a testament to our continued efforts in combating smuggling activities in Northern Mindanao. I hope this also serves a reminder to everyone that PRO10 will remain dedicated and vigilant in its anti-smuggling and anti-criminality campaign,” Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) Director, Brigadier General Jaysen De Guzman, said.
