At least 13 Badjaos, including five minors, were rescued after they were accused of spitting and hurting those who did not give alms to them in Davao City.

According to a report by GMA Super Radyo Davao, these Badjaos allegedly hurt and spit on several passengers on Mc Arthur Highway in Toril.

Police turned the Badjaos over to the Quick Reponse Team for Children Concern of the city government.

Authorities urged the public to refrain from giving alms to Badjaos so they will be forced to leave the streets.

Giving alms to mendicants is also punishable by law under the Anti-Mendicancy Law.
