Across Region 1, the number of aspirants who have filed their certificates of candidacy (COC) in the 2024 midterm elections has reached 492 as of Thursday, October 3, 2024.
In Pangasinan, a total of 203 aspirants have filed their COC for various positions.
"Mahigit 1,000 na aspirants pa ang inaasahan naming maghain hanggang sa huling araw," Pangasinan Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Ericson Oganiza said.
The deadline for COC filing is on October 8, 2024.
Authorities are aiming for a zero-incident election period.
"Wala namang untoward incident. Wala namang nairi-report na nagkagulo," Oganiza said.
Local police are working closely with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) to ensure safety.
"Peaceful naman hanggang ngayon. Hopefully, tuloy-tuloy ito hanggang matapos ang filing," PLTCOL Brendon Palisoc, chief of Dagupan City Police Station, said.
Both COMELEC and the Philippine National Police (PNP) are optimistic that the peaceful process will continue until the last day of filing.
