Authorities destroyed over 100 faulty weighing scales at the Baguio City Public Market to protect shoppers from getting shortchanged.

The City Treasurer’s Office led the destruction of 127 defective weighing scales confiscated from vendors.

According to the market supervisor, over 200 faulty scales were seized in 2022, but many were destroyed in a fire in 2023.

Officials assured the public that they will continue monitoring the market to prevent dishonest traders from taking advantage of customers.
