The Police Regional Office-Davao (PRO-11) is looking into possible hotspots ahead of the 2025 midterm polls.

A list of these areas may be presented during the meeting of the Regional Joint Security and Control Center.

“Wala pa man sad naka-meeting ang Regional Joint Security and Control Center so magpaabot ta ana basi didto na I-present kung naa ba tay yellow, red or kung saan na mga areas na green,” PRO-11 Spokesperson, Major Catherine Dela Rey, said.

Police are also monitoring possible security threats from any armed groups, including the New People’s Army (NPA).

“Isa na sa atong ginahimo nga assessment kung naa bay private armed groups. And then kung naa bay additional threat from CTGs although ang Region 11 insurgency-free na man ta pero naa pa man gud tay mga silingan nga dili pa,” Dela Rey added.

PRO-11 is monitoring these concerns as the region recorded election-related incidents in hotspot areas in the previous elections.

Police also explained the basis how an incident is considered election related.

“Mahulog na siya nga election related kung ang victim, isa sa mga criteria, kung ang victim midagan sa isa ka position sa election and during sa investigation, nasuta jud nga tungod sa away sa politika maoy hinungdan nga gipatay siya,” Dela Rey said.

Meanwhile, police personnel who have relatives running in the upcoming election have been reassigned temporarily to other provinces.

“Katung mga personnel nga naay pamilya o relatives or up to 4th degree ug affinity or consanguinity, gi-reassign na sila sa laing area kay dili man na siya pwede kay basi ma-influence ang ilahang area kay mudagan man na ang relative o kapuyo,” Dela Rey said.
